Where Do You Run?
Every one of us has a reflex when trouble comes. Some run to worry, some to work, some to withdraw. Solomon points us to a better refuge: “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and are safe.” A tower is not a hiding place you visit once — it is a fortress you live in.
God’s name is not a password we whisper in panic; it is an address where we dwell in peace.
Three Stones Of This Tower
First, His character is our shelter. “The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious” — every name of God in Scripture is a room in the tower. When fear rises, speak His names aloud: Provider, Healer, Shepherd, Peace.
Second, running is an action. The righteous “run into” the tower. Faith moves its feet — through prayer, through worship, through gathering with God’s people even when you least feel like it.
Third, safety is a promise, not a feeling. “And are safe” — the Hebrew speaks of being set on high, out of reach. The storm may still rage below, but it cannot touch those lifted above it.
